I am going to do an artwork that symbolizes gay marriage in Malaysia. And for that, I did a few research to support the item I used to symbolize the situation.

First, I decided to use flowers. Flowers are known for it's symbol of romance. This can be verified here.
Next, for the color of the flowers, I decided to use pink and purple.
Pink, is normally associated with love and romance. I am going to use this color to symbolize the heterosexual couple's love, since this color is commonly used for lovely and romantic event. To read more on the symbolism of the color pink, click here.
Then, to symbolize the gay couple, I decided to use the color purple. First of all, the color purple is usually used to show support of the gay (or LGBT in whole). According to this website, this started during the world war II, Nazi uses a purple/pink triangle to distinguish people that they persecuted as gay, lesbian or sexually questionable.
